THE GUTEKUNST FLUTE CHOIR
PAT
Pat plays piccolo, soprano, and alto flute and conducts the flute choir. A retired classroom music teacher and middle school band director, she currently works part time as a traveling music winds instructor with Milwaukee Public Schools. Pat also performs with the Lakeshore Symphonic Band and teaches privately. In her spare time she enjoys crafts, movies, and traveling.
MARY
Mary plays soprano flute and is a member of the Milwaukee Police Band, the Golden Eagles Band and the Blue Coats band. She has a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Masters degree in religious studies from Cardinal Stritch University. Mary is a retired award- winning journalist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Currently she volunteers at the Schlitz Audubon nature pre-school and at the Glen Hills Middle School library. She enjoys travel, theater, all types of music, Special Olympic Sports, hanging out at her Northwoods cabin, and spending time with family.
JOAN
Joan plays piccolo and soprano flute with the group. Currently she owns & operates a product brokerage internet marketing business specializing in health, wellness, and weight loss. Joan is very active and enjoys working out, competing in various races, traveling, spending time with family. and best of all, being “Nana” to 8 grandchildren.
DIANE
Diane plays soprano flute and has been with the Gutekunst Flute Choir for many years. A retired customer service representative from a Christian Publishing Company, she likes singing with her church choir as well as playing the flute. Besides performing with the flute choir, Diane enjoys reading, baking, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
MARILYN
Marilyn plays soprano flute in the flute choir. Besides playing the flute and piano, she sings with her husband in the Master Singers of Milwaukee ensemble. She also sings with the Elm Grove Women’s Choir and her church choir. She enjoys movies, entertaining, traveling, reading, and is in 2 book clubs. A retired nursing instructor, Marilyn also enjoys activities with friends, her 4 children and 16 grandchildren.
SUZANNE
Suzanne plays piccolo, soprano, and alto flute with the group. In addition to the flute choir, she sings with Master Singers of Milwaukee and the Elm Grove Women’s Chorus. She is active in the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity, as well as the Waukesha Music Study Club and the Harmony Club. Suzanne enjoys reading, travel, yoga and healthy walks.
LIZ
Liz plays bass, alto, and soprano flute as well as piccolo and is a retired Milwaukee Public Schools early childhood educator. She also performs with the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band, the Waukesha Civic Band. and for church concerts that come her way. Other interests include reading, inspirational coloring, puzzles and counted cross-stitch. Liz volunteers at an elementary school and especially enjoys spending time with her granddaughters.
MIKE
Mike plays soprano, alto and bass flute with the group and is a regular with the Oak Creek Assembly of God Orchestra, playing in their Christmas and Easter musical productions. Mike started playing flute in the 5th grade. He also started young with his passion for aviation and earned his private pilot's license at age 17. He has a BS in Aeronautics from St. Louis University and is currently a Flight Test Engineer with the F.A.A. Mike and his wife have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. He enjoys bicycling and tinkering at his basement workbench.
MICHELLE
Michelle plays piccolo and concert flute and has been a member of the flute choir for over 15 years. She began playing the flute at age 8, and has had continuous membership in many performing groups over the years including the Lake Band, the UW-La Crosse Marching Band, and the Black River Falls Community Band. At this time, Michelle performs with the Milwaukee American Legion Band, Milwaukee Police Band, and the Milwaukee Letter Carrier Band. Formerly a kindergarten teacher in Milwaukee for 12 years, she currently works as a classroom paraprofessional at Erin Elementary School. Michelle also enjoys traveling, photography, reading, scrapbooking, spending time with her family and especially sharing many adventures with her daughter.
KEVIN
Kevin plays concert flute and alto flute with the flute choir. He has been playing flute and singing with church choirs since grade school. Staying in shape for music making requires that he run, bicycle, and hike, which he does with his grandchildren as often as possible. His day job is practicing law.
